Racing4Vets is teaming with Accessible Racing, paralyzed NASCAR driver Shane Hmiel and 3 Wide Life’s motorsports TV program on an injured veterans NASCAR driving experience at Rockingham Speedway on January 26, 2013.

Racing4Vets is supporting two injured U.S. military veterans at the event from Walter Reed Medical Center who lost their legs in IED explosions.  These wounded warriors will have the opportunity to drive or ride in an adapted NASCAR stock car around the Rockingham track.  With hand controls, a powerful V8 NASCAR motor and an experienced instructor in the passenger seat, the injured veterans will enjoy the same thrill of speed and g-forces that NASCAR racers experience.

Shane HmielThe “Race to the Rock” will be headlined by Shane Hmiel, former NASCAR driver who was paralyzed in a USAC sprint car crash in October, 2010.  It will be Shane’s first time back in a stock car since his injury.

Accessible Racing

The adapted NASCAR stock car is operated by Brian Hanaford of Accessible Racing, who runs highly successful “arrive and drive” clinics for disabled civilians and veterans.  Accessible Racing’s adapted NASCAR stock car provides an exciting and therapeutic experience that helps disabled individuals rediscover their capabilities and opens up new possibilities in their lives after a disabling accident, illness or injury.

3 Wide LifeThe event will receive extensive coverage by SPEED Channel and 3 Wide Life, the popular motorsports TV show airing over 430 times per week to 38 million households across the United States.
