Sgt. Dwyer is a twice combat wounded Marine in Iraq 2007 and Afghanistan 2011, where he lost his left leg to an IED. Since recuperating from his injuries at Walter Reed Hospital, Liam has competed and won in NASA’s SpecZ series in a Nissan 350Z, in a vintage Austin-Healey Sprite at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, and a Ford Mustang in the One Lap of America (OLOA). His step into a sponsored race seat is the natural culmination of a strong desire to overcome adversity and his dedication to winning on the track.

Sgt. Dwyer will be racing an initial 3-event series for Mazda Motorsports:

  • May 3rd, 2014 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
  • May 23rd, 2014 at Lime Rock Park
  • Aug 23rd, 2014 at VIRginia International Raceway
  •

Liam had this to say about the opportunity: “I’m excited beyond words. There are many, many people I need to thank. But first I must say thank you to Mazda, Derek, Tom and Glen for giving me this unbelievable opportunity. The companies, shops and organizations who have helped me: High Performance Heroes, RRT Racing, RDZ Motorsports, Redline Design, On Track Karting and finally a huge thanks to all my friends.”
